Method Man [ @methodman ] And Redman [ @therealredman ] To Headline 5th Annual Smoker’s Club Tour

The 5th annual Smoker’s Club Tour will get started Oct. 14 with some pretty high-level headliners—Method Man and Redman, as well as Cypress Hill’s B-Real and up-and-comers Berner—from Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang—and Mick Jenkins. The World Wide Rollers Tour will run through the end of November, with a tour-ending performance in New York City on Nov. 26, the day before Thanksgiving.
The tour will tackle 36 cities in 43 days, a marathon run around the country that kicks off in Providence, R.I.
“Method Man and Redman have been staples in my playlists since I can remember,” said Jonny Shipes, Smoker’s Club founder, in a statement. “I have probably smoked 5 lbs of weed listening to their music & watching How High on repeat during my life. Soulection [ @soulection ] Radio Show #182 w/ Ta-ku [ @takugotbeats ]

This one is such an inspiring session from start to finish for so many reasons... hmm well it was the first time I did my show live from Rinse FM in London! It felt good to be back in the studio. We were fresh out of a sold out XOYO show from the night before w/ the announcement/debut of our latest signee @samgellaitry. Feeling overwhelmed.
Ta-ku and I hung out recently when he was in Los Angeles for a couple of days and were able to catch up on life, music, photography (shouts to Eric Coleman / Mochilla), eat tacos, sushi, chill with Esta, Carmack, Mike Gao and play music. I'll never forget this. Before we knew it Ta-ku did a 30 minute set and sat down with me to and talk about everything from his travels, latest business ventures, Artists Envy, Songs To Make Up To, his passion for Men's Grooming, Photography, and much more. Ta-ku is one of the realest and most down to earth people you'll ever meet, he's definitely family.
Enjoy and spread this to your friends and fam. Next week we return with a special set + Interview from Sam Gellaitry.

It's always a pleasure doing the radio show for you. We did this session from San Francisco @ The Whooligan's spot after a very long night out and inspiring week. Anything for you of course. Since Chris McClenney was in L.A. for the week we had him drop a 30 minute set. Chris is definitely destined to do some great things. We also had our very own The Whooligan bless us with some stand out selections that he's been feeling lately.
And last but not least, we had the pleasure of premiering @doja-cat's forthcoming PURRR! EP which you'r going to love. It's great to watch her progression as an artist. We've been watching her since late last year and her name and music is really starting to catch everyone's attention.
We have some heavy hitter guests coming on the show very soon. Stay tuned.

Introducing The 2014 SOURCE360 [ @SOURCE360 ] Unsigned Hype Competition #UNSIGNEDHYPE #SOURCE360 #ITSMYTURN

One of the greatest things about Hip-Hop has always been being able to watch artists grind with diligence and determination with hopes of being offered a record deal and/or an opportunity to build their career.  Over the past 25 years, The Source’s Unsigned Hype column has a rich history of shining a light on that particular facet of Hip-Hop culture, and with the Unsigned Hype competition, we plan on continuing that tradition.
Before “Juicy” and “Big Poppa”, The Notorious B.I.G. was featured in the Unsigned Hype column. In March of 1998, Eminem was featured in the Unsigned Hype column. The next year, he released The Slim Shady LP, which has sold over 5 million copies.  CommonMobb Deep (before they were known as Mobb Deep), DMXMacklemore, and many more of the culture’s biggest artists got their start in The Source’s Unsigned Hype column.
In fact, before the digital proliferation of music and content, and long before American Idol, The Source, via Unsigned Hype, was the best way to discover new and innovative Hip-Hop talent. Now, the new Unsigned Hype is back!
With the Unsigned Hype Competition and the SOURCE360, we plan to showcase the talents of hundreds of unsigned artists who covet a platform to get their talents to the masses.  How do you become a part of it? It’s pretty simple.
1. Create your SOURCE360 Unsigned Hype account at uh.thesource360.com
2. Carefully read over the “Rules” page, which you can access directly by clicking here.
3. Upload a video to your Unsigned Hype account–starting from tomorrow morning–of you spitting your best bars, and make sure you tweet the link to your submission with the hashtags “#UNSIGNEDHYPE #SOURCE360 #ITSMYTURN”.  We will stop accepting submissions at 11:59:59 pm on the night of August 31st.
We will then select 25 contestants–10 will be chosen by The Source’s staff, 15 will be chosen by the viewers–to compete in Round 2 in Brooklyn, NY in front of industry power-players and an eager crowd on September 19 at SOURCE360.  The final 8 will move on to the semi-finals and perform again the night of Sept. 19 for our judges at a showcase that will feature headlining performances from former Unsigned Hype members. The 2014 Unsigned Hype Finals will be held at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY at the SOURCE360 Concert where the crowd will choose between two finalists. The winner will perform an original song in front of thousands of people at the SOURCE360 Concert with the legendary acts performing that night.
Are you ready? We will see…
#UNSIGNEDHYPE
#SOURCE360
#ITSMYTURN

WINNER GETS!!

The 1st place prizes for the winner of the Unsigned Hype Competition are as follows:
  • A two-song set during the SOURCE360 Concert on the night of September 20th at The Barclays Center.
  • An Unsigned Hype feature article in the next issue of The Source Magazine, and a prominent place in the print recap of the competition
  • Digital recap of their performance on TheSource.com
  • The winner will also be featured on the official Unsigned Hype mixtape, distributed by The Source Magazine/The NorthStar Group
