Back in 2004 he linked up with Prodigy & Nina Sky for the song “Hold You Down”, which has samples from Jay-Z’s “Soon You’ll Understand” that led me to believe he made that song too. Finding out Just Blaze did the Jay-Z track screwed up my world for a min... just ask J1S! Nonetheless, I bumped this song for at least a year straight.
Last month, he made a video for yet another Prodigy/Nina Sky collabo called “Keys to the City”. I'm beginning to think these three should make an album together... Anyway, I’ve been giving this song heavy rotation since October of last year. In the video, there are a few things that are noticeably different that I don’t like. For one, Prodigy’s not in it. Why? I think he was locked up at the time. Al got some kid to replace him... umm, not cool. Another thing about this is that the chorus boasts that they have the keys to "New York, New York", but half of the video takes place in LA. Don't make much sense, does it? Plus both verses are altered at the end. To me, the original song was dope the way it was but I’ll let you be the judge.
Overall, Alchemist can make hot beats... period. Here are some more dope tracks from "Al, Al, Al, Al, Al, Al, Alchemist"...
