Dwayne Walker, a clothing designer based in New York, says that rap mogul Jay-Z owes him $7 million for creating the infamous Roc-A-Fella logo. The Bronx, NY native filed a copyright infringement suit on Thursday in Manhattan Federal Court.
According to findings within the lawsuit, Walker says he had an idea of what label co-founder Damon Dash had in mind for the logo back in 1995 and felt he could create a better design. The suit also notes how recognizable and powerful that logo has become in Hip Hop over the years.
"The logo has become universally recognized as an iconic symbol of Jay-Z, one of the most successful recording artists in the history of popular music".
Neither Jay-Z nor his publicist has yet to comment on the situation.
